Terms and conditions
The TL;DR version
Use this site kindly.
You can share our content to support the Humanise campaign — please credit us and don’t use it commercially without asking.
You keep ownership of anything you upload, and you give us permission to reuse it to help the movement grow.
We may update the site, or these terms, as we go.
Detailed rules matter too — read the full terms if you want the full picture.
The full (but still human) version
Welcome 👋
We’re really glad you’re here.
These terms explain how our website works, what you can expect from us, and what we ask of each other. We’ve written them as clearly as we can.
By using www.humanise.org (aka “our site”), you’re agreeing to what’s below. If something here doesn’t feel right to you, please don’t use the site.
Who we are
humanise.org is a site operated by Heatherwick Studio Limited. If you ever want to talk to us, it’s best to email mail@humanise.org. We’re real people. We reply!
Using the site = agreeing to the terms
By being here, browsing, clicking, downloading or uploading, you’re saying “yes” to these terms.
They might change from time to time — because the world changes, laws change, and campaigns grow. If they do, we’ll update them here.
These terms work alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we look after your data.
About the site itself
The site is free to use, for anyone, internationally.
Sometimes we might update it, pause it, or take parts of it offline. We’ll try to give notice or explain changes when we can, but we can’t promise perfection (tech rarely does).
Using our content (this bit matters)
Everything on the site belongs to Humanise or to the people who’ve created it and allowed us to use it. But the campaign exists to create momentum for change. We actively welcome thoughtful reuse of our content when it supports the campaign, aligns with our values or helps ideas travel further and faster.
You can:
- download content we’ve made available
- share it for personal, non‑commercial use
- credit us and the creators of images or other content, where specified (always appreciated).
But please don’t:
- change it in ways that change its meaning
- separate images from their context
- sell it or use it commercially without permission.
If in doubt, just ask us.
Automated scraping & data mining
Please don’t scrape, mine, or automatically harvest our content or data.
This includes bots, crawlers, spiders, scrapers, and clever tools doing uncivilised things at scale. We’re obliged to say that this should be treated as an express reservation of our rights in this regard, including for the purposes of Article 4(3) of Digital Copyright Directive ((EU) 2019/790). Phew.
A note on accuracy
We do our best to keep everything up to date, but we can’t guarantee that we’ve always managed to do this (we’re human, after all).
Nothing on the site should be taken as professional advice. If you’re making big decisions, it’s always best to talk to a qualified human with the right expertise. And you can always contact us – we’re real humans too.
Links to other corners of the internet
We sometimes link to other sites. We don’t run them. We don’t endorse them. We can’t control them. So browse wisely.
Community & user‑generated content
Some content comes from you and others in the community. We love sharing different voices — but bear in mind that:
- we don’t automatically approve everything
- views shared by users aren’t necessarily ours.
If something feels wrong or unlawful, please tell us.
Uploading content
From time to time we might invite you to upload or post something on the site. If you do, you:
- promise it’s lawful and respectful
- keep ownership of your work
- give us permission to use it to support and promote the Humanise campaign.
That permission is:
- worldwide
- non‑exclusive
- royalty‑free
- lasting
- designed to help the message travel.
This really helps other users, partners or supporters to engage with that content in meaningful ways – so thank you.
What we won’t allow
We will remove or take action on content that is:
- illegal
- dangerous
- abusive or malicious
- terrorist in nature
- repeatedly unfounded.
If this happens frequently, we may suspend access — not as punishment, but to protect the wider community.
Tech, viruses & good digital hygiene
We do what we can, but we can’t guarantee the site is bug‑free.
Please:
- use your own security software
- don’t try to harm or hack the site
- don’t introduce malicious code.
If we experience any serious breaches we may report them to the authorities.
Linking to us
You’re welcome to link to humanise.org if:
- it’s fair and legal
- it doesn’t misrepresent us
- it doesn’t imply endorsement where there isn’t one.
We can withdraw our permission if we think a link is being misused, and we’ll contact you and ask you to remove it.
If something goes wrong
We don’t exclude liability where the law says we can’t (especially for serious harm or wrongdoing). But do remember:
- the site is for personal, non‑commercial use
- we’re not liable for business losses, missed opportunities, or indirect damages.
Legal stuff
These terms are governed by English law.
Any disputes will be handled by courts in England & Wales (or Scotland / Northern Ireland, where applicable).
Final note
Humanise is about people, possibility and collective change.
These terms aren’t here to shut things down — they’re here to protect the space, so ideas can move freely, safely, and generously.
If you’re ever unsure, curious, or want to collaborate, just talk to us. We mean it.
Well done – you made it to the end :)
